In the midst of a month celebrating abundance with parties and decorations and gifts, Advent stands in contrast to it. It is a season of hunger, aching for something that can satisfy our deepest longings. It is a season of crying out in prayer, “How Long, O Lord?” Throughout church history, Advent has been a time to reflect on our infinite need and God’s perfect Solution. At the center of our worship leading up to Christmas is the advent wreath with five candles: hope, peace, joy, love, and Christ. Join us as we use the Psalms to reflect on each of those profound gifts God shares with us in this Christmas season.
